My night skincare routine

I believe in the philosophy: beautiful skin begins with exceptional skincare.

We all want flawless, clear skin but often overlook the importance a good routine. There is no miracle factor to skincare; skin requires gentle care and patience. Everyones skin is different, so what may work for some may not work for others. It's all about figuring out the right products to suit your personal needs.

My skin is far from perfect. My skin type is combination to oily and very sensitive. I have experienced everything from terrible breakouts that destroy my confidence, to great skin days where I feel comfortable enough to go bare faced in public. Over time I have certainly learnt what negatively impacts my skin, but also what clears it up.

Removing makeup:

Makeup isn't the best thing for skin, so I  like to take mine off as soon as I possibly can. I have tried makeup removing wipes in the past, but have found that they aren't very thorough when it comes to getting everything off. I currently use the 'Garnier micellar cleansing water' for my face and the 'Garnier 2in1 express eye-makeup remover' for my eyes. I simply use these products on makeup pads and remove like there's no tomorrow. The micellar water is a great drugstore dupe for Bioderma and only a fraction of the cost!

Cleansing

I've struggled quite a lot to find a good cleanser while my face has seen better days. Personally, I prefer foam cleansers, so the 'Benzac daily facial foam cleanser' has become the perfect must have. it is gentle and non-drying, yet if feels very thorough. I use 1-2 pumps onto a wet face(typically in the shower for convenience) and rinse.

Exfoliating

'Neutrogena oil-free daily scrub' for acne prone skin is my current favourite scrub. It is gentle as the beads in it are not large and grainy, but still shows positive results for my skin. Although I've heard exfoliating should be done only 2-3 times a week, this is so gentle that I use it on a daily basis even with my extremely sensitive skin.

Moisturising

I love to use a night cream after cleansing as it gives a little more moisture over night-duh Brianna, that's the point of a night cream. I haven't tried all that many, but currently use 'Neutrogena hydro boost night concentrate' and love the way it makes my skin feel.

Treating the devils

If I have an evil pimple that requires more treatment, I resort to the 'Benzac acne gel'. There are three different strengths: 2.5%, 5% & 10% I think (don't shoot me if I'm wrong). I use the lowest as I have been told that they all have the same outcome, regardless of the strength This product can be known to be over drying at times, so I apply it directly on the spot only. My blonde moment: using it all over my face when I first tried it and wiping it off with my favourite towel... Only to realise that it bleached the towel as the warnings state. Don't be put off by my stupidity though, it is a super effective and magical product.

  2. I can't use micellar waters! I have no idea but they don't take off all my make-up I prefer to use cleansing oils, but I think I might try the eye-make up remover :) I'm currently using one by Nivea and it's brilliant!

    1. Oh really? That's so strange. As long as you've found what works for you instead.
The eye makeup remover is definitely worth a try. Let me know what you think if you decide to give it a go :)
